Dr Ashika Sharma MD

We are very excited to announce that starting on July 6th, Dr. Ashika Sharma will be offering specialty pediatric and sports medicine care to ActiveKidMD patients and families.

Dr. Sharma is board-certified in both pediatrics and sports medicine and has been a practicing pediatrician for 10 years. She will be accepting newborns and patients from birth through young adults and will offer telemedicine visits in addition to in-office appointments.

Dr. Sharma grew up in Southern California and attended UCLA where she completed her undergraduate degree in Psychobiology. She completed medical school at Ross University before doing a pediatric residency at CHOC Children’s in Orange, CA. She also completed a sports medicine fellowship at Harbor-UCLA.

“Our practice offers unparalleled comprehensive pediatric and sports medicine specialty care in our office, and now with the addition of Dr. Sharma, we can expand our availability to patients and families,” said Dr. Chris Koutures of ActiveKidMD. “We have built an emphasis on individualized and personal care to each patient we see, from newborns to Olympic athletes, so Dr. Sharma’s experience fits extremely well with our approach.”

She has extensive experience in sports medicine, with coverage of ice hockey and football for high school as well as numerous triathlons, Dew Tour extreme sports, marathons, rugby, Special Olympics, and the LA Wildcats professional XFL team.

Dr. Sharma currently resides in Yorba Linda with her husband and 7-year-old twin boys. She enjoys traveling, is a bit of a foodie, and loves spending time with family and friends. Dr. Sharma thrives on building relationships with her patients and their families. One of her favorite things about pediatrics is being able to watch her patients grow.

“My philosophy on practicing medicine is well aligned with that of Dr. Koutures,” said Dr. Sharma. “I provide individualized, comprehensive, evidence-based care for families. I believe in a team approach that allows for discussion and sharing of the decision-making process between the physician, patient, and their family. I love seeing my patients grow.”

Dr. Sharma will be joining ActiveKidMD as Dr. Keith Gladstien is retiring after over 30 years in pediatric practice. Please click here to read his touching good-bye letter to his patients and families.

Dr. Sharma is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
